Dr. Jason King
Dr. Jason King is the Dean of the USC Thornton School of Music and a globally recognized scholar, journalist, producer, and cultural curator. Before joining USC, he was a founding faculty member and longtime leader at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, where he helped shape a new model for music education that bridges artistry, business, and innovation. A respected voice in pop music studies and journalism, King has written extensively for outlets like Vibe and The Village Voice and produced acclaimed projects on icons such as D’Angelo, Sylvester, and Michael Jackson.
He recently appeared as a guest on Mixed and Mastered, discussing his journey from the studio to the classroom and the future of global music.
